After the death of his first wife, the protagonist remarries only for his new wife to also die. He remains overnight with her body and notices her seem to come to life, but as Ligeia, his first wife. Has she been resurrected? Which wife is she? Or is this all an opium fueled illusion? Based on Edgar Allan Poe's short story of the same name.
