In September 2001, filmmaker Noura Kevourkian was in Syria making a film called Veils Uncovered. Then 9/11 happened and she was forced to leave, her filming unfinished. Noura returns to the Middle East and meets Abir, a young Syrian migrant worker about to be married to a man she’s only been engaged to for two weeks. They’ve never even held hands.
